Lord Pickles has ordered an investigation into the number of Jews murdered on Alderney, a tiny British possession in the Channel Islands. The picturesque island, which was just three and a half miles wide and one and a half miles wide, was occupied by the Nazis for the bulk of the Second World War, during which time four labour camps were established. Two prisoners were taken by the SS who converted them into concentration camps run under the rule of 'Extermination by labor', with Russian prisoners of war, German political prisoners, and Jews among the thousands of prisoners.
