After being sentenced to life in jail, a 'gifted academic' who ran over her boyfriend months before she was set to begin a Cambridge University degree showed signs of crying 'crocodile tears.' Alice Wood, 24, was sentenced to a minimum term of 18 years in prison for murdering Ryan Watson following a hearing in Chester Crown Court in December. Wood could be seen with the make-up on her face streaked by tears as she was led from the courthouse to the prison van for the last time following scathing remarks about her lack of remorse by the sentencing judge.

Alice Wood, 24, a 'gifted academic', has been sentenced to life for running over and murdering her fiancé's fiancé, 24, after he 'clicked' with another woman at a party, as the judge informs her she has shown 'no genuine regret'

A privileged undergraduate enrolled in a prestigious Cambridge University research program is now serving a life term in jail for her boyfriend's horrific murder. Alice Wood (left and right), who earned an MA in theology, philosophy, and ethics, used her Ford Fiesta as a 'weapon' after partner Ryan Watson (top) 'clicked' with another woman at a party. On May 6, 2022, Wood, almost double the drink-drive limit, jumped into her car as they returned to their £120,000 terraced home in Rode Heath, Cheshire, where they shouted at her partner in a deadly 'game of chicken'. Mr Watson, a support worker for a brain injury charity, was shot twice before being knocked down and dragged for 160 yards. Wood, 24, denied murder and manslaughter, claiming she was trying to escape to her mother's house after a violent row in which Watson accused her of flirting with other men, which she denied. Tiffany Ferriday (bottom) said during the trial that she and Mr Watson had 'clicked,' and that Wood had been 'pretty much left out' of the discussion.

Alice Wood, a boyfriend who had a tattoo of her exam results, went from a school'swot' to rubbing shoulders with some of Britain's most notorious women in jail

Alice Wood, rather than a future in Cambridge academia's cloistered world, will spend the next decade in high-security women's prisons, rubbing shoulders with notorious female prisoners. Her life seemed to be settled before the murder. With help from their parents, she and her charitable worker boyfriend Ryan Watson, 24, began to live together in Rode Heath, Cheshire, in October 2021. Despite being from the same town of Cheadle, Staffordshire, neighbors said they only got together in 2020 and then decided to settle down after a 'whirlwind romance'. After a late-night row, a lot changed on May 6, 2022, when a boozed Wood got behind the wheel of her Ford Fiesta and sped repeatedly at Mr Watson.
