Mamat Khalid, a Malaysian screenwriter, film producer, and occasional actor, born April 6, 1963, is a Malaysian screen writer, film producer, and occasional actor.

Mamat, the younger brother of cartoonist Datuk Mohammad Khalid, better known as Lat.Beyond's film career, is the owner and operator of his café, Sarang Art Hub, which is located in Tanjung Malim and opened in 2016.

Personal life

Mamat married Hasmah Hassan on April 12, 1987, six days after his 24th birthday, and the family has five children, including three sons and two daughters. Amen Khalid's fourth child follows his footsteps in the film industry.

Life and career

Mamat was born in Ipoh, Perak, on April 6, 1963. He used to go to the theater every other day to see the new films as a young boy. Unfortunately, his hobby did not fit with his father, who barred him from attending cinemas even on his deathbed. However, that did not dampen the young Mamat's ardent admiration for films.

Mamat worked in a government department before deciding to filmmaking. He was a fan of rock music, having formed Drop Out in 1986, where he was the band's keyboardist. Rock Ooo...! is a writer and director whose 2005 film Rock, inspired him to write and direct his 2005 film Rock, which later became three sequels thanks to his experience during this period.
