Maika Monroe Buckley (born Dillon Monroe Buckley, May 29, 1993) is an American actress and professional kiteboarder.

Early life
Dillon Monroe Buckley was born in Santa Barbara, California, the daughter of sign language interpreter Dixie and construction worker Jack Buckley. Maika was later shortened to Maika, after she had already been identified for the majority of her life. After spending the previous summer in Santa Barbara, Monroe left Santa Barbara and moved to Cabarete, Dominican Republic, to continue learning kiteboarding. She then completed her senior year of high school online.
Career
Monroe registered for Labor Day, a sequel to the novel of the same name, in April 2012. She played Mandy, a farm girl who falls in love with a young man and becomes his wife and the mother of his children. She appeared in the film The Guest, a psychological thriller film shot in June 2013. She appeared in It Follows, a horror film that became a cult hit in 2014. She co-starred in the invasion thriller The 5th Wave, based on the same name.
