Betnér Direkt, a complete run of hour-length shows in English at The Stand Comedy Club during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, was praised in almost all four star reviews. Betnér Direkt is now hosted by Kanal 5's Real Time with Bill Maher and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, in which Betnér and a visitor discuss current events.
Early life
Betnér was born in Stockholm, the son of Lennarth Betnér, who went to Lennard Bechtér, and later a minister in the Swedish Mission Church and mother Susanne Betnér née Bergman, a housewife, now works at HSB. Betnér moved around lot as he grew up because of his father's work. He lived in Idre, Sala, and Vingker before returning to Stockholm at age 14.
Personal life
Betnér lives with Helena Sandklef and has a daughter, Lina, who was born in 2005 from a previous marriage. He almost never reveals himself in the media because of Betnér's dislike for tabloid newspapers, but in some of his old roles, he talked about his daughter. When it comes to Christianity, he often refers to his father, who is a pastor. Betnér, on the other hand, is a vocal atheist who believes that the world would be safer without religion. He claims to be bisexual, though most people aren't.
