Hundreds of people gathered to honor Covid victims at a memorial wall on the banks of the Thames. Emotional mourners shed tears

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 29, 2024
On Friday, throngs of families who lost loved ones to coronavirus gathered in London to celebrate the third anniversary of the National Covid Memorial Wall's construction. The mourners walked along the Thames between Westminster Bridge and Lambeth Bridge, paused at times to hug one another, read a poem, and observe a minute of silence in honor of those represented by hearts and photographs. The mural, which is located in the Houses of Parliament, is made up of more than 220,000 hand-drawn hearts painted by bereaved family members in 2021 and serves as a key point of their grief.

On the first National Day of Reflection, a minute's silence for Britain's Covid victims: Bereaved families gather by a memorial wall four years after the virus outbreak

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 3, 2024
On the first National Day of Reflection, mourning families gathered by a memorial wall four years after the covid virus epidemic began four years ago. On Sunday, volunteers for the National Covid Memorial Wall in London's South Bank were welcomed by the British people at the stretch of hand-painted hearts between Westminster Bridge and Lambeth Bridge. A group of ten volunteers rely on public donations to maintain the public memorial, but without government recognition, the wall's permanence is in jeopardy. Volunteers strung heart-shaped lights along the 500 meters of the wall and displayed a bouquet of flowers at each of its 25 panels for the Day of Reflection.

As eight-year-old Malinello collapses and dies, there is a tragedy in Cheltenham

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 15, 2023
Malinello, an eight-year-old boy, had been participating in the National Hunt Novices' Chase when the animal sustained its fatal injury (circled, left) in the final race on Tuesday. Despite the best efforts by the veterinary team at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Malinello succumbed to the injury, according to the Jockey Club, whose racecourse spokesman said, 'Our thoughts are with all his links.' The tragedy has reignited calls for jump racing to be outlawed, with campaigners for Animal Aid claiming that Malinello was the 70th horse to die from a deadly crash at Cheltenham in 20 years. Animal Aid's spokesperson said, 'The racing industry has for too long accepted horse deaths in the search of gambling, entertainment, and profit making.'
