Luca Vildoza (born August 11, 1995) is an Argentine-Italian professional basketball player for Baskonia in the Liga ACB.
At a height of 1.91 m (6'3") tall, he can play at both the point guard and shooting guard positions.
Professional career
Vildoza started his career with Quilmes, Argentina's 1st Division (LNB) club, in the 2011–12 LNB season. During the TNA 2012–13 season, he played in the Argentine 2nd Division with Quilmes. With Quilmes in the top-tier Argentine League, he spent the next three seasons.
Vildoza joined Baskonia, a Liga ACB club, in 2016. However, Baskonia loaned him back to Quilmes for the 2016–17 season, where he averaged 16.9 points and 3.9 assists per game. He returned to Baskonia for the 2017-18 season and made his EuroLeague debut. He played in over 24 EuroLeague games, averaged 4.5 points, 2 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per game. He played in 25 games and averaged 5.9 points, while shooting 50% from the field goal and 40.4% from the three-point line in the Liga ACB. Baskonia reached the ACB Playoffs Finals this season and lost the final 3–1 to Real Madrid.
Vildoza's role in the team and stats increased in 2018-19-19, as his average of 9.1 points and 3.8 assists in 34 games of the EuroLeague increased. Vildoza signed a contract extension with Baskonia in March 2019 to continue on the 2023-24 season. He appeared in 32 games in the Liga ACB, averaging 9.3 points per game. Baskonia defeated Zaragoza 2–0 in the ACB quarterfinals.
Vildoza signed with the New York Knicks on May 6, 2021, but he was suspended on October 3 after playing two 2021 NBA Summer League games. Vildoza's right foot had undergone surgery on October 5, the first time.
The Milwaukee Bucks announced Vildoza on April 6, 2022, giving him a two-year deal.
In game three of a first round playoff series against the Chicago Bulls on April 22, 2022, Vildoza made his NBA debut. At the 8:02 mark, Vildoza was subbed in during the fourth quarter. The Bucks defeated 111–81 after Vildoza made a three-point shot, grabbed a rebound, collected two assists, and registered two steals. He was waived by the Bucks on July 5th. On July 9, the Bucks re-signed him to an Exhibit 10 deal.
National team career
Vildoza was a member of Argentina's junior national team. At the 2012 FIBA Under-17 World Cup, he competed with Argentina's junior national team. He is also a member of Argentina's national basketball team for senior men. He has competed at the 2014 ODESUR Games, the 2015 Pan American Games, the 2016 South American Championship, and the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup.
Vildoza was a member of the Pan American gold medal team in Lima in 2019. Vildoza was selected in Argentina's squad for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup and earned a silver medal with Argentina, who came runners-up to Spain at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
