Renegade Nell (Disney+), a family-friendly romp that has been turned into an eight-part series with Disney's infinite budgets, is bursting with Wainwright's trademark wit and anti-authority swagger.

"Reenegade Nell," a new eight-part swashbuckling adventure film set in the 18th century, is available on Disney Plus. You may not agree with me that this latest film is going to be up your street. However, I promise you're likely to be completely swept away if you give it a chance, as well as me. Nell Jackson, our heroine, is best known for her appearance as Orla in "Derry Girls," but there is no one more suited to this polar opposite role. Sally Wainwright, a writer who revives folklore and twists popular tropes, creates "Renegade Nell" — and it's very clever.

If you believe you can afford one of the few remaining seats (going for a shocking £120-£175), you'd better be warned that David Ireland's performance is both ostensibly and joyously insensitive. It's about a Hollywood A-lister who has been booked to appear in a West End play about a defunct Northern Irish Unionist paramilitary.
