After a nearly five-year probe into his suspected tax evasion and foreign financial dealings, Delaware US Attorney David Weiss officially filed charges against the president's son last Tuesday. Assistant United States Attorney Derek Hines, Weiss' deputy, appeared in the charging papers alongside his boss and two other assistant US attorneys, indicating that he was instrumental in Hunter's criminal case. According to Hines' LinkedIn profile, he served as Special Counsel to ex-FBI director Louis Freeh at his private firm, Freeh Group International Solutions, a lobbying and risk management' consultancy that collaborated with Hunter on international markets that is currently under scrutiny by lawmakers. Freeh worked with Hunter on a $3 million contract as a result of his federal criminal investigation and is being investigated by Congress.
