Louis Moore Bacon (born July 25, 1956) is an American investor, hedge fund manager, and philanthropist.

Early life and education
Bacon was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on July 25, 1956. Zachary Bacon Jr., his father, founded Bacon & Co. and later oversaw Prudential Financial's and Merrill Lynch's real estate efforts in North Carolina.
Bacon graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. He earned his BA in American literature at Middlebury College in Vermont, graduating in 1979. When Bacon was working on a fishing boat on Long Island, he met Walter Frank. During the summers of his college years, he was given a job clerking at Walter N. Frank & Co. In 1981, he obtained his MBA in finance from Columbia Business School.
