ROLAND WHITE reviews last night's TV: The Boys from Brazil and Britain's Greatest Obsessions

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 13, 2022
ROLAND WHITE: Just imagine a political figure with outspoken comments who insults his opponents and is dismissed as a joke by all the people who are supposed to be influential, but still wince if unexpectedly. We're spoilt for choice these days, but Jair Bolsonaro, the man seen in The Boys From Brazil (BBC2), makes Donald Trump look like the Dalai Lama. We saw him goose-stepping onto a stage with a cheesy smile on his face in this second episode of a three-part series examining his ascension to office. He proudly claimed to favor of torture and told someone who asked him an uncomfortable question: 'You have a horrible homosexual face.' Bolsonaro is now the President of Brazil and last night's episode tried to answer the obvious question: 'How did that happen?'

The show 'Grady's is off. BBC Radio 2 is a cable television broadcaster

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 9, 2022
Paul O'Grady, the station's current senior DJ, has been accused of ageism by furious Radio 2 viewers as the youngest DJ to leave the station in the aftermath of a mass exodus of famous talent, including Steve Wright, Tony Blackburn, and Andrew Marr. Before a shake-up that saw him regularly swapping with comedian Rob Beckett for 13 weeks at a time, the TV and radio presenter, 67, hosted the Sunday evening 5-7 p.m. slot. His last program on the station will be on Sunday, August 14, when his new cycle will come to an end. Users of Twitter immediately accused the broadcaster of ageism, with O'Grady's resignation the latest in a string of changes to the BBC Radio schedule in recent months that have seen many older presenters, including Wright, Blackburn, and Craig Charles all lose their positions. Graham Norton, who resigned from the station just before Christmas in 2020, and Simon Mayo, who left in 2019. Ex-Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, RuPaul's Drag Race UK judge Michelle Visage, Waterloo Road actress Angela Griffin, and DJ Spoony are all expected to replace the 'old guard'.
