In East Northport, New York, Alan Weber, 54, was fatally shot by a police officer on Tuesday after he charged authorities with wielding swords and wearing a fencing mask at his basement. The shooting seemed to be justified, according to police Commissioner Rodney Harrison on Wednesday. Neighbors called 911 after watching Weber run from house to house in the neighborhood, open doors, gather mail, direct nonexistent traffic, and leave rosary beads on a porch. Officers arrived and lunged at them with double swords in a fencing mask, yelling and bursting pieces.
