Lee Edward Unkrich (born August 8, 1967) is an American filmmaker, film editor, screenwriter, and animator.
He had been a long-serving member of Pixar's creative team, where he first began as a film editor in 1994.
He began directing, first as co-director of Toy Story 2. Monsters, Inc., co-directing Toy Story 2nd.
Seeing Nemo, Unkrich's solo directorial debut with Toy Story 3 in 2010 and most recently directed Coco in 2017, both of which received the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Unkrich, a twenty-five-year employee, moved to Pixar in February 2019 to spend time with his family.

Early life and career
Unkrich was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Bob Unkrich, his father, was a World War II soldier ("He stormed the beach at Normandy") and a painter. Unkrich was raised in the Jewish faith. He spent his youth at The Cleveland Play House. In 1990, Unkrich graduated from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
At Pixar, Unkrich was Vice President of Editorial and Layout. Unkrich worked in television as an editor and producer before joining Pixar in 1994. He is the 2011 recipient of the University of Southern California's Mary Pickford Distinguished Alumni Award, which honors alumni contributions to the field of cinematic art.
Unkrich revealed on January 18, 2019, that he was leaving Pixar to spend time with his family and pursue passions that had "long been back-burnered."
