Laura Hamilton (born 24 April 1982) is an English television presenter.

She participated in series six of Dancing on Ice in 2011, finishing in second place.

Since February 2012, Hamilton has been a presenter on Channel 4's A Place in the Sun and also co-presented Cowboy Builders & Bodge Jobs for Channel 5 in 2015.

Personal life

Hamilton lives in Surrey. A keen skier and snowboarder, she also enjoys travelling and going to the theatre. She has visited many countries around the world including India, Cuba, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, Fiji, Iceland and parts of America. Hamilton has been developing properties since the age of 19 when she completed her first project which was entirely self-funded. It was announced on Twitter that Hamilton had given birth to a baby boy called Rocco on 13 November 2013. She announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Tahlia, on 8 May 2015.

Early life and early career

Hamilton grew up in Dartford, Kent. She turned down an invitation to study law and psychology at university for a one-year deal as a runner for Dermot O'Leary after gaining A-Levels at Dartford Grammar School for Girls. After her time on channel 4, she departed and worked as an Assistant Floor Manager on shows including Top of the Pops, The Buckingham Palace Jubilee Celebrations, The Games, T4, Party in the Park, Robbie Williams at Knebworth and Big Brother. She went on to work as a 2nd/3rd Assistant Director on television shows such as Family Affairs, The Bill, and films starring Harry Potter and Stardust. She worked behind the camera for four years as an assistant before launching her on-screen debut.

She has also worked with production companies and broadcasters, including ITV, Channel 5, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Disney XD.

Television and film career

In the popular pre-school show Fun Song Factory for CITV, she appeared as 'Melody', her first exposure in front of the camera. On Fun Song Factory, she appeared alongside Aston Merrygold of JLS. She appeared in the films Dead Man's Cards in 2006 and Magicians in 2007. She was also the face of Citibank in Europe.

Hamilton was the female star of Nickelodeon's kids' TV show Nickheads, Slime Across the UK in 2006 and ME:TV (LIVE) for the channel. She has also presented the Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Awards in 2007, 2007, and Dannii Minogue in 2008.

Hamilton began hosting on GMTV's Toonattik in March 2008. She began her involvement in Endemol-produced The Bratz Design Academy in late 2008, where children learned to be fashion designers and style a dress for an awards ceremony. Hamilton co-hosted the UK version of Staraoke on Boomerang with Nigel Clarke in 2009.

Hamilton was named one of the 16 celebrities to appear in ITV1's flagship show, Dancing on Ice, on December 18, 2010.

She appeared in early 2011 as one of a few others, in addition to Simon Cowell's presentation of The Xtra Factor that year. She decided to leave her Nickelodeon job to work away from children's televisions.

Hamilton appeared on Channel 5's Real Food Family Cook Off as a guest judge alongside chef Ainsley Harriott on October 4th, 2011. Hamilton appeared in Series 11 of The Real Hustle as a participant on February 17th.

Hamilton appeared on Winter Wipeout's first celebrity special on March 24, 2012. After being disqualified in fourth place at the 'Winter Blunderland' stage, she was unable to progress to the "Wipeout Zone" final. Hamilton appeared on Celebrity Eggheads alongside Alistair Appleton, Simon O'Brien, Ed Hall, and Angus Purden in the "house and home experts" team on December 13, 2012.

In November 2013, Beat My Build, her sister's show, aired on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. She appeared in the first series of The Jump in 2014 and then dropped out of the competition on day 5, barely missing the ski jump-off against Donal MacIntyre.

Fort Boyard's resurgent series on CITV, now called Fort Boyard: The Ultimate Challenge, which also appeared on Disney XD in the United States. She appeared in series 1 & 2 and former Blue Peter host Andy Akinwolere from season 3 to 5. In 2015, the program was not renewed for a 6th series.

Hamilton will be a member of Channel 4's award-winning show A Place in the Sun's team on August 24, 2011. On February 6, 2012, her first episode aired on television.

Daybreak, ITV's weekday breakfast show, is occasionally on outside broadcasts and viewers, including ITV's weekday breakfast show. Hamilton contributes to A Place in the Sun magazine and also reviews hotels for national newspapers. She joined Hello Magazine as a "Celebrity Blogger" at the end of June 2013.
