Lashinda Demus Life

Lashinda Demus (born March 10, 1983 in Inglewood, California) is an American hurdler who competes in the 400 meter hurdles, an event in which she was the 2011 world champion and 2012 Olympic silver medalist. In Daegu, South Korea, she set a new personal record over 400 meters, which is now the women's fourth fastest time ever.

Demus is the American record holder in 400 meters hurdles. She is a former student of Long Beach Wilson High School, where she competed and set the national high school record for the 300 hurdles from 2017 to 2017.

She was part of the national relay team that set the national record in 1998 and then set the new national record in 2001 (since being defeated by rival Long Beach Polytechnic High School in 2004).

She also competed in the 100 meter hurdles, winning the CIF California State Meet in 2001, as well as several of the sprint medley teams.

Track and Field News named her as the national Girl's "High School Athlete of the Year" in 1999 and 2001.

Lashinda was the only woman to be honoured twice non-consecutively after High School.

Lashinda Demus of the United States will receive a gold medal for the London 2012 Games

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 22, 2022
Lashinda Demus, an American 400-meter hurdler, is expected to earn a gold medal from the London 2012 Olympic Games, more than a decade after the competition began. Natalya Antyukh, a Russian teen, will lose champion status due to doping. Antyukh had not appealed a sentence that included the stripping of her results from July 2012 to June 2013, according to the Athletics Integrity Unit, which oversees doping cases in track and field.
