When Photoshop goes wrong: From Chinese giants to dodgy dictators, how Japan's 'scruffy' ministers are just the latest officials to get caught editing images

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 12, 2024
From world leaders to government ministers, officials across the globe are keen to capture their best side when posing up in front of the camera. But before their release into the online world, many images undergo various touch-ups and editing - with some results more realistic than others. Digitally altering garments and adding war machines to military scenes are just a few examples of how far some officials have gone in their efforts to appear more clean-cut and menacing. And as AI image enhancement and digital rendering becomes more prominent in photographs uploaded to the internet, it is no wonder world leaders and global powers are using the tools to their - not-so-obvious - advantage. MailOnline has taken a look into some of the most hilarious examples of Photoshop flops from the most influential figures around the world.

Fancy Christmas in the Costa del Un? North Korea re-opens to international tourists after five years - as secretive state tries to lure visitors to its newly-built 'socialist utopia' this December

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 16, 2024
A China-based tour operator confirmed they will be the first to take visitors over the border and into North Korea later this year. Beijing 's Koryo Tours said on their website: 'We have received confirmation from our local partner that tourism to Samjiyon and potentially the rest of the country will officially resume in December 2024.' The secretive state was the first in the world to seal itself in early 2020 as a response to the spread of Covid-19. As other nations slowly began to welcome international visitors, North Korea only welcomed a select few - and they were usually travelling diplomats or the odd tourist group from Russia.

Kim Jong Un BULLDOZES mansion that belonged to his hated step-grandmother whose bloodline was seen as a threat to his rule

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 8, 2024
Kim Jong-un has wiped his hated step-grandmother's mansion off the map, amid speculation that he's too broke to maintain her royal residence. After the death of the dictator's grandmother, his grandfather and predecessor, Kim Il-sung, remarried and started another family. But relations between the rival royal lines were fraught, with the new wife, Kim Song-ae, accused of trying to install her own son on the throne. So Kim Jong-il, the current leader's father, had her placed under house arrest, and her son, Kim Pyong-il, was sent into exile as a career diplomat.
