Kevin White Life

Kevin Romone White Jr. (born June 25, 1992) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent.

He played college football at West Virginia and was drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2015 NFL Draft. A top prospect coming out of college, White suffered a season-ending shin injury during his first training camp and missed his entire rookie season.

The following year he only managed to play four games before being put on injured reserve with another injury to his left leg, and during his third season fractured his shoulder blade in the season opener, again resulting in him being placed on season-ending IR.

He became a free agent following the 2018 season, and was signed by the Arizona Cardinals before being eventually released.

Personal life

White has two younger brothers, Ka'Raun and Kyzir, who both played football at West Virginia. Kyzir is a linebacker who was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and currently plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Kevin White Career

High school career

Kevin Romone White Jr. was born on June 25, 1992. At Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, which participates in the East Penn Conference, White played high school football.

College career

He attended Lackawanna College for two seasons before going to West Virginia University after graduating high school. He appeared in nine of 11 games and had 35 receptions for 507 yards and five touchdowns in his first season at West Virginia in 2013. In 2014, White began his senior season as a starter. He had 109 receptions for 1,447 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. He was selected by many publications as a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.

Professional career

Together with Amari Cooper, White was dubbed one of the best wide receivers of the 2015 class.

He was selected by the Chicago Bears as the seventh overall draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. White also agreed to a four-year, $15 million deal with the team on May 6, 2015.

White sustained a minor injury to his shin, keeping him out of multiple training camp sessions while playing for the Bears off-season season. White had suffered a stress fracture in his shin when participating in planned team sports that would require surgery, just a few weeks after returning to action. White had a steel rod inserted into his left tibia on August 23, 2015, and was deemed as ineffective by the Bears physically unable to perform (PUP) list. During his rookie season of 2015, White did not appear in a single game.

White fractured the fibula in his left leg, the same leg he had suffered the year before, and he had been placed on injured reserve after playing the first four games in the 2016 season.

In the Bears' 2017 season-opener against the Atlanta Falcons, White was a starter. In the case, however, he fractured his left shoulder blade in the game. During the game, he had only two receptions for six yards. On September 10, 2017, White was put on injured reserve for the third year in a row.

The Bears turned down White's fifth-year contract on May 2, 2018. On October 21, 2018, with the Bears trailing the New England Patriots 38–31 late in the game, White caught a 54-yard Hail Mary pass from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky as time expired. However, he was stopped one yard short of a game, ensuring the Bears lost.

On March 15, 2019, White signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, but he was released on August 21, 2019. White had a tryout with the New York Jets on August 20, 2020, after being left out of the 2019 NFL season.

On August 27, 2020, White signed with the San Francisco 49ers. On September 5, 2020, he was released and signed to the practice squad the next day. He was added to the active roster for the team's weeks 5, 6, and 9, as well as the Green Bay Packers, and the Miami Dolphins. By the time he was on the practice squad/COVID-19 list, he was promoted to the practice squad on December 22, 2020, and he was recalled to the practice squad on December 31. On January 4, 2021, he signed a reserve/future deal. He was released by the 49ers on August 11, 2021.

On August 17, 2021, White signed with the New Orleans Saints. He was released on August 31, 2021, and he re-signed to the practice squad, and was re-signed. White played for 38 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 31, 2021, his first reception in three years. The Saints defeated 36-27. He was added to the active roster on November 13 and released a week later on November 20. He resigned three days later, but he was reinstated and reassigned to the practice squad on November 30. On January 12, 2022, he signed a Saints reserve/future deal.

White was put on disabled reserve on August 23, 2022. He was released four days later on August 27. On October 5, he was recalled to the practice squad. On October 20, White was activated from the practice squad and made his 2022 debut for the Saints, where he made his career-long 64-yard reception in a 42-34 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
