He was married to Polly Draper from 1983 to 1990. Since 1991, he has been married to Sasha Clifton and has two children.
Early life and career
Wade was born in Chappaqua, New York, and attended Connecticut College. Wade appeared in two films for Mark Rappaport, including The Scenic Route (1978), before his writing career began. He wrote the play The Key Exchange, which was produced off-Broadway in 1981 and released as a film in 1985. He received his first screen credit for Working Girl, earning him nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Screenplay and the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay seven years later. Wade created and executive produced the ABC drama series Cashmere Mafia on television. He also wrote the seven episodes that were not shown by the network before the show was cancelled. In its first season, he joined the writing staff of CBS' Blue Bloods and has been as its executive producer/showrunner since the second season. In 2019, he was nominated for a Mystery Writers of America Edgar award for the episode "My Aim Is True."
