'Climbing Mount Fuji was one of the most physically demanding physical challenges I've ever encountered,' says Jo Kessel, who scaled and down the mountain, Japan's highest peak, in a single day.' She says she was determined to capture the "whole escapade" on camera -'sweat, exhaustion, stumbles and all.' Jo says of the mountain: 'The Japanese call it "Fujisan" and it's thought to bring good luck, which is a curiosity seeing as the mountain is actually a giant volcano! It last erupted in 1708 and, although still functioning, it comes with a very low chance of eruption.'

Authorities say two young sisters managed to recover from a vehicle that had fallen into a lake in western Michigan and spent several hours shivering in wet clothing and bare feet before finding assistance. The girls, aged 8 and 10, managed to get out of the car through the back seat and made it to shore, where they spent several hours without finding someone to help them at a nearby park in Park Township. When the car was located in Lake Macatawa, the girls' father, who was driving the car at the time of the accident, was discovered dead by divers. The girls were admitted to the hospital for observation, but the cause of the crash is unclear.
