It was sold at a Mecum Auctions event in Kissimmee, Florida, where a related model sold for $1.3 million last May. The Daytona, which is based on a charger, is one of the oldest automobiles in history. It was only in production for a year before NASCAR changed its laws to outlaw such unusual styles.
