Kevin Gray Life

Kevin Gray (February 25, 1958-February 11, 2013), an American actor who primarily worked in musical theater, was born in February 25, 1958. Gray, a Duke University undergraduate, appeared in Kayama's 1985 Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Pacific Overtures.

He was the youngest actor to appear in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway and in the United States national tour, and was the recipient of The Carbonell Award for his portrayal of King Siam.

In Harold Prince's production of Show Boat, he appeared in the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar and Gaylord Ravenal.

He appeared in performances with the Portland Stage Company, The Boston Shakespeare Company, The MUNY, and The Mount Gretna Playhouse.

He co-starred in the film White Hot.Gray was a professor at Rollins College until 2011, when he transferred to Hartt School at the University of Hartford.

He taught Meisner Technique Acting for Musical Theatre at Rollins.

He served as Associate Professor of Theatre at the Hartt School. Dodie Pettit was married to Dodie Pettit, whom he encountered while performing in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

Gray and his wife appeared on two albums together, Voices from Broadway, a joint venture with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and Songs from the Journey. Gray died on February 11, 2013, fourteen days before his 55th birthday, and his wife Dodie Pettit is survived.
