Kelechi Osemele Career

College career

At Iowa State, Osemele attended and played college football. Osemele had played in 30 consecutive games since beginning his senior year at Iowa State in 2011. He was a second-team all Big 12 pick in 2009 and an honorable mention in 2010.

Professional career

The Baltimore Ravens selected Osemele in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft for the 60th overall pick. In every Ravens game during his rookie season, he started at right tackle. For the Ravens' playoff season, he activated Jah Reid, who was ill. Bryant McKinnie's introduction at left tackle and Michael Oher's transfer to right tackle solidified the offensive line. With the Baltimore Ravens finishing 10–6, the team won the AFC North pennant and then triumphed Super Bowl XLVII over the San Francisco 49ers, making Osemele's rookie year triumphant, giving him his first championship title.

Osemele will recover after back surgery on November 1, 2013. After playing seven games, he will miss the remainder of the 2013 season on injured reserve.

In the 2014 season, Osemele recovered from back surgery and played just two games for the Ravens.

On March 10, 2016, Osemele signed a five-year, $60 million contract with the Oakland Browns. He and fellow Oakland offensive linemen Donald Penn and Rodney Hudson were selected to his first Pro Bowl for the 2016 season. He was also selected as a First-Team All-Pro. He was also ranked 95th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017.

For the second year in a row, Osemele and fellow Raider offensive linemen Donald Penn and Rodney Hudson were named to his second Pro Bowl.

He was the second-highest paid left guard in the NFL in average salary at $11.7 million as of October 2018, behind Jaguar Andrew Norwell ($13.3 million) and ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Ali Margiet ($10.825 million).

The Chicago Bears and a 2019 sixth round draft pick (originally acquired from the Chicago Bears) traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a fifth round pick on March 10, 2019. The agreement was signed on March 14, 2019. Osemele sustained a shoulder injury and was considering surgery on October 15, 2019. Osemele's doctors told him he needed surgery for his injury, but the Jets disagreed, and did not believe that Osemele needed surgery. Osemele was suspended for every session that he missed due to his injury. After undergoing shoulder surgery, Osemele was released from the team on October 26, 2019.

Osemele agreed to a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on July 27, 2020. He started the first five games at left guard before suffering with torn tendons in both his knees in Week 5. On October 17, 2020, he was put on injured reserve.
