Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama were honoured with official portraits at an unveiling ceremony on Sept. 7 in the White House, as well as Sharon Sprung and Robert McCurdy, the artist behind the pair's likenesses. The Obamas' paintings are the first official portraits to be displayed to the White House Collection after then-President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush unveiled in 2012. The history-making paintings are also the first official White House portraits to include a Black president and first lady. Two official portraits are created for each president and first lady, according to White House tradition. "One set is created by and for the National Portrait Gallery, and the other set is funded by the White House Historical Association for the people's house," President of the White House Historical Association Stewart McLaurin said in a behind-the-scenes video. The Obamas' National Portrait Gallery portraits were unveiled back in 2018 and were created by Amy Sherald and Kehinde Wiley.

Ed Sheeran debuted his latest single "Shivers," a caffeinated yet delicate bit of dance-pop that came a long way from the initial vampire vibes he sent out with "Bad Habits" when it dropped in late June. Here's some good news: Sheeran will appear at the 2021 VMAs in just two days — and he's taking his fizzy-crush new song with him. Both songs are scheduled to appear on his forthcoming fourth album, as well as "Visiting Hours," and they fit seamlessly in his wheelhouse, ostensibly sophisticated singer-songwriter styles that embrace the pop's vastsse. He's been in this space for a decade, he's been following a predictable route. It's also what makes Sheeran so popular, and it's something he'll do when he performs "Shivers" on the VMA stage.
