It comes as demand for her to return the opulence of justice soared after an ITV drama - Mr Bates vs. The Post Office - thrust the widespread miscarriage of justice back into the spotlight. Jo Hamilton, a former subpoena, said she was 'glad' that the ex-Post Office had given her her CBE back, adding, 'It's apprehension that it took just a million people to cripple her conscience.' In this week's hit ITV drama Mr Bates vs. The brutal torture of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters, wrongfully accused of stealing, false accounting, and fraud, while dragged through the courts was brought to life. It traces the sad tale of Britain's biggest ever miscarriage of justice, which resulted in the arrest of more than 700 innocent people, two63 of whom were jailed, as well as hundreds more in bankruptcy and financial ruin. At least four people have committed suicide. Victims were compelled to explain how Horizon, rather than dishonest sub-postmasters, was to blame for cash going missing from Post Office tills, according to the company's senior staff. The drama forensically examines how the Post Office managed to stop the truth from getting out, giving misleading information to Parliament, the public, and at least one High Court judge involved in the process.

Mr Bates vs. the Post Office are the real victims of a corruption investigation after losing their jobs - and the bosses are embroiled in the scandal

Mr Bates vs. The Post Office is a show that will be all too real for some. The new ITV series chronicles the tale of a mass miscarriage of justice that engulfed hundreds of innocent Post Office workers as a result of a flawed IT system and subsequent cover-up. More than 700 sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses were charged by the Post Office between 1999 and 2015 based on inaccurate information from the Horizon system. After falling victim to the faults, former postmaster Alan Bates (top left, as depicted by Toby Jones) led and secured a court contest. His victory opened the way for the overturn of hundreds of criminal charges. Several other innocent former Post Office workers have been wrongfully dismissed, including Jo Hamilton (top right, portrayed by Monica Dolan), Lee and Lisa Castleton (bottom left), and Noel Thomas (bottom right, portrayed by Ifan Huw Dafydd) and Noel Thomas (bottom right, played by Ifan Huw Dafydd). Toby Jones on his new drama about Britain's biggest miscarriage of justice - the shameful prosecution of hundreds of innocent Post Office staff

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 29, 2023
The Post Office falsely accused 3,500 subpostmasters of theft, mistrust, and false reporting from 2000 to 2015. Over 700 people were charged. Any of them went to jail. Many people have lost their homes and life savings as a result of the Post Office's announcement that they were missing. According to a Daily Mail investigation, the scandal was traced to four suicides, and 60 victims died before they found any justice at all. They'd done nothing wrong, but the Post Office's own insecure Horizon computer platform, which mistakenly reported financial irregularities, was to blame. Mr Bates Vs. The Post Office, a recent ITV drama starring Toby Jones, Monica Dolan, and Katherine Kelly, lays out the full horror of this tale and honors the brave subpostmasters who stood up for themselves and fought to expose the shocking behavior of Post Office bosses who continued to pursue them despite warnings that Horizon was to blame.

Richard McCann (left), a child of Sutcliffe (inset) when he was five years old, begged on the Long Shadow (right) designers to delete the serial killer's moniker. Following criticism from families of those killed by the killer, screenwriter George Kay decided to rename the writer.
