Karen Kilgariff (born May 11, 1970 in Petaluma, California) is an American writer, comedian, writer, producer, television presenter, and podcast host.
She began as a stand-up comedian in the early 1990s and later became a television actress, most notably as a cast member on Mr. Show.
She has appeared on numerous comedy television shows, including The Rosie Show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and The Pete Holmes Show. In 2016, she co-hosted the true crime comedy podcast My Favorite Murder with Georgia Hardstark.

Early life
Karen Kilgariff and her mother, Patricia (née Knight), died in 2016, her father Jim, and an older sister all lived outside Petaluma, California. Both of Karen's parents worked; her father was a San Francisco firefighter and her mother was a head psychiatric nurse at the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. She attended St. Vincent de Paul High School in Petaluma, Australia.
Personal life
Kilgariff does not drink alcohol, and she has been forthcoming about her drug use in the past. In an interview with Marc Maron for his WTF podcast, she said she stopped using opioids and alcohol completely after she began having seizures, afraid that her drug use had been the reason. Karen is now living in Studio City, California, with her two dogs, Frank and Blossom. Kilgariff married at the age of 32 and is now divorced.
Career
In the 1990s, Karen Kilgariff first emerged as a stand-up comedian in Sacramento. She went on to land comedy on television, including as a cast member on seasons 3 and 4 of Mr. Show. W/B & David will also appear in the 2015 reboot. Jean Pettengill appeared in five episodes of The Book Group in 2003.
Kilgariff joined with Drennon Davis in 2015 to produce I Don't Care, I Like It.
Ellen DeGeneres hired Kilgariff in 2003 to help write for her comedy book Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now. Kilgariff's first performance was with DeGeneres. Kilgariff was later named head writer for The Ellen DeGeneres Show, a day-time talk show that debuted in September 2003. She appeared on screen in sketches and other segments. She was also a member of the Girls Guitar Club, a comedic group (with Mary Lynn Rajskub).
Kilgariff was the head writer for The Rosie Show, which aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She appeared as the head writer for The Pete Holmes Show, which aired on TBS.

Do You Want A Ride?, a comedian Chris Fairbanks' podcast, was launched in 2014. The podcast began entirely in a car, where Karen and Chris would talk to their visitor while driving around. They do now film at the Exactly Right Studio, citing safety concerns. Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark launched the true-crime podcast My Favorite Murder in 2016, in which they address various famous murders and serial murders. Since its inception, the podcast has attracted a large fan base, with over 19 million viewers totaling 19. They have also appeared on television shows in the United States and internationally, including My Favorite Murder. Exactly Right, which now produces their podcast with ten others, was founded by She and Hardstark in 2018. Jensen and Holes: The Murder Squad, the network's first original podcast, debuted at number one in April 2019.
