Justin Quiles Career

Early life and career beginnings

Quiles was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to a Puerto Rican family, and was raised in Puerto Rico but then moved to Connecticut to finish high school. In interviews, he has said that his father was abusive to his mother, which is why they had to return to Puerto Rico. He wrote his first song when he was 13 years old, such as El General, salsa, and hip hop, as well as Wisin y Yandel, Tego Calderon, and Don Omar.

Quiles went back to Puerto Rico to become a singer. He started collaborating with the duo Genio & Baby Johnny. He returned to Orlando, where he recorded his first single, "Algo Contigo" with producer Lelo, a year later.

In August 2013, Quiles joined the record company Rich Music, headquartered in Miami. J Balvin, a Colombian singer, and Orgullo, his first single with Rich Music, became a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, with a remix featuring the Colombian singer "Orgullo."

Career

Quiles' debut album, Carpe Diem, was released in March 2015 and featured the song "No La Toques" and "No Envidian." In the same year, he also launched "Me Curare," which gained attention with a remix starring Colombiano singer Maluma and peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart.

Quiles' second studio album, La Promesa (The Promise), was released on July 29, 2016, which is how he is often referred to. The album debuted on Billboard as the best Latin Rhythm Album and the #2 Latin album overall. "Si Ella Quisiera," the main hit song on the album, has also received a remix by Yandel & Gadiel. The album debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart and number 20 on the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart, and in Spain, it was rated Platinum.

Quiles had released the mixtape Imperio Nazza: Justin Quiles Edition prior to launching La Promesa. He had been on Orion before, which included his song "Si El Mundo Se Acabara." He also released the EP JQ Miliano, his alter ego, which featured the songs "Culpable" and "Ella Baila" (and a remix starring Messiah).

Quiles released the song "Crecia" ft. Bad Bunny & Almighty, a new subgenre of Latin Trap. He also appeared on "Cuestion De Tiempo" ft. Sech, and was also featured on "Baila Toma" by Osmani Garcia and "Todo Cambio" by Becky G. in July 2017. The album debuted at 18th on the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart and 25th on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart, and 25th on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.
