Julia Lennon Life

Julia Lennon (born Stanley, 18 March 1914 – July 15, 1958) was the mother of English singer John Lennon, who was born in the 1960s during her marriage to Alfred Lennon.

Mimi Smith (née Stanley), her eldest sister, Mimi Smith (née Stanley), pleaded with Liverpool's Social Services, she handed over her son's care to her sister.

She had one daughter after an affair with a Welsh soldier, but the baby was put up for adoption after she was threatened by her family.

Julia and Jackie had two children with John 'Bobby' Dykins.

She never divorced her husband, opting to live as Dykins' common-law wife for the remainder of her life. She was known as a high-spirited and impulsive singer, as well as having a keen sense of humor.

She taught her son how to play the banjo and ukulele.

She maintained almost constant contact with John, and when he was in his teens, he stayed overnight at her and Dykins' house.

She was struck down and killed by an off-duty policeman close to her sister's house on 251 Menlove Avenue on July 15, 1958.

Lennon was traumatized by her illness and wrote several songs about her, including "Julia" and "Mother."

"To a great extent... her son's muse," biographer Ian MacDonald wrote.
