The fact Jadon Sancho will be lining up against him for Borussia Dortmund is something nobody saw coming a few months ago. The pair are, of course, former Dortmund team-mates and get on well off the field, with Sancho - four years the elder - helping Bellingham settle in when he moved to Germany as a 17-year-old in 2020.

An engineering student who abused England striker Callum Wilson on social media because he passed the ball to a white teammate has dodged jail. Ibukun Quadri, 21, called Wilson a '****' during England's 2022 FIFA World Cup opener with Iran on 21 November 2022. Quadri was 19 when he sent the message to Wilson, who replaced England captain Harry Kane in the 76th minute at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar. Thomas Tuchel's side started well at the Allianz Arena, but the Spanish giants struck first as Vinicius Jnr finished well after a delightful through ball from Toni Kroos. Bayern came out firing in the second half and Leroy Sane got them back on level terms following a fine run and finish, before Harry Kane put the hosts ahead from the spot when Jamal Musiala was fouled by Lucas Vazquez.
