Former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández is back in court on Tuesday, asking that a United States district judge install him a new counsel and postpone his drug trafficking dial after the Drug Enforcement Administration invaded his team of attorneys with a rabbi. Jorge Bar-levy had been 'enlisted' by the DEA, according to Hernández, who was extradited to the United States in April 2022. Bar-Levy, a Florida immigrant, told Reuters that he was ordained as a rabbi in 2018 and that he assisted Hernández in obtaining legal representation in New York and secure kosher meals in prison.

On Thursday morning, a drug lord accused of delivering massive quantities of cocaine from South America to Texas was extradited to Texas. At 6:45 a.m. local time, Honduran national José Luis 'Lord of the Skies' Oliva Meza was turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents at a military base in Tegucigalpa, shortly before the agency's aircraft left for the United States two hours later. In the Eastern District of Texas, Oliva Meza, who also holds Nicaraguan nationality, is facing two charges.
