Joseph Porter Ruben (born May 10, 1950) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer.
Movie career
His earlier films, including The Stepfather, have devolved into cult classics. He began to direct high-grossing mainstream films, including Sleeping with the Enemy starring Julia Roberts, Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Wood, Money Train starring Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, and Return to Paradise starring Vince Vaughn and Joaquin Phoenix in the 1990s. He often collaborates with film editor George Bowers. His films The Stepfather, True Believer, starring Robert Downey Jr. and James Woods, and Dreamscape, starring Dennis Quaid, have all received accolades at various film festivals. Michael Keaton and Michelle Monaghan appear in Penthouse North, his 2013 film. Since not being employed for six years, Jack will return to direct the serial killer drama.
