The rise is being attributed in large part to an alarming rise in people under the age of 50, which has been traced to unhealthy diets, sedentary lifestyles, and exposure to chemicals. Although overall cancer deaths have decreased by 33% since 1991, among young people, some cancer diagnoseers, including colorectal cancer, are on the rise.
