Jordan Jones Career

Basketball career

Jones excelled at both basketball and football, so he knew he'd have to make a decision later in life. In 2005, he served as a point guard while captaining the Vic Country Under 16 national championship-winning team. It was however after he had a basketball carnival one week and a football carnival two weeks later, where he realized that juggling the two was impossible, and he decided to play football, where he appeared for the Geelong Falcons.

Senior football career

Jones competed for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup, Victoria's premier U/18s competition. He played 10 games in 2007 and 14 matches in 2008 before breaking his shoulder in the second half of the season.

Jones was selected in the 2008 AFL Under 18 Championships for the Vic Country team. He was a consistent performer and appeared in all five matches. He did a good job in one match against Western Australia, where he "controlled precedings" across the center half-back. In the final match of the tournament against Tasmania, Jones kicked a goal and was named in the top of the tournament.

Jones was chosen by West Coast using their fourth round pick, no. 52. In a match against Vic Country, which ended his second half of the season for the Falcons, there was doubt whether he'd be selected. Michael Turner, the Falcons' regional manager, had a "60 percent chance" of being drafted in 2008. Jones's swath of curiosity, Hawthorn, and Sydney all expressed an interest in him, but it was the West Coast who ended up selecting him.

Jones has been accepted to play for Peel Thunder Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Jones has played ten games this season, wearing #17. In Round 12 against East Fremantle, Arguably his best game of the season so far, with 23 tackles and nine marks.

Jones made his West Coast Eagles debut at the 2010 season. In 2011, he did not play a single game for the club and was de-listed at the end of the season. In January 2012, he joined West Perth Football Club, agreeing to a two-year deal.
