The singer-songwriter, 50, has been working on his biopic Better Man since 2021 - with the film premiering at Toronto Film Festival on Tuesday. And to compliment his film - in which the former Take That star plays himself while Jonno Davies takes on the role of his younger self - Robbie wrote an original song. The star is set to submit his tune Forbidden Road, which he performed at an after party at the film festival, to be considered for the 2025 Academy Awards. However he will face stiff competition, with superstars Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande set to also be in the running for songs from their respective films Joker: Folie à Deux and Wicked.

While a topless man appeared in another scene inside a building, actors and actresses put on a vivacious display for another musical number. For the shots taken on Regent Street, Jonno Davies, a young Robbie, sported a brown CGI suit. Robbie's career will be portrayed in a 'fantastic' way in some scenes, and he would appear as a CGI monkey in some scenes. Jake Simmance plays Gary Barlow, Liam Head as Mark Owen, Jesse Hyde as Howard Donald, and Chase Vollenweider as Jason Orange.
