ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS: What are the longest and fastest illegal world records which were wind assisted?
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 3, 2024
At the European Cup meeting on June 25, 1995, at the Stadium Lille Metropole in France , Jonathan Edwards recorded a triple jump of 18.43m (60ft 4 inches). However, the wind speed of 2.4 metres per second was above the legal limit of 2 metres per second, so it couldn't count as a world record. At the World Championships in Gothenburg the next year, Edwards jumped 18.29m (60ft), the current world record. The long jump world record was set at the Tokyo World Championships in 1991, when Mike Powell jumped 8.95m (29ft 3in) to break the 8.90m mark achieved by Bob Beamon at the 1968 Mexico Olympics.

The event was attended by Harry, as well as senior figures from the Invictus Games Foundation, wounded veterans who have taken part in the sporting event and famous faces such as actor Damian Lewis, MP Johnny Mercer and former triple jumper Jonathan Edwards. In a video released by the foundation on Saturday night which gives viewers a look at what happened behind closed doors after the service, the father-of-two was seen laughing and joking with attendees.

Watch the moment Prince Harry goes on a surprise walkabout after his Invictus Games event to joke with a fan on her honeymoon. The Duke of Sussex left St Paul's Cathedral, following an event to celebrate ten years of the charity, to greet members of the public before being escorted to his car. The crowd, very much supporting King Charles ' youngest son at his event, shouted 'we love you Harry', as the smiling Royal can be heard jovially responding to a woman who said she was here for her honeymoon by saying: 'You didn't get married in St Paul's, though?' Inside the event he was greeted by members of his late mother's family and was seen on camera warmly embracing both of them, however no other royals attended the ceremony, oweing to 'busy schedules'.
