www.dailymail.co.uk, April 29, 2024
A cowboy-obsessed grandfather spent 25 years turning his garden into the ultimate 'Dude Ranch'. Stephen Smart (pictured), 65, has long been fascinated with the films starring the likes of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne - which inspired him to construct his very own old-style town in his back garden. The Dude Ranch includes a saloon, jailhouse, bank, haberdashery and even an undertakers at the rear of his semi-detached home in Kent. Mr Smart - who's also known simply as 'Dude' - began modelling his property, which now resembles a Hollywood film set, on the American frontier period around 25 years ago.

BRIAN VINER: If I compiled my list again today, I still wouldn't have space for The Italian Job, Forrest Gump, The Great Escape, or Titanic, which all of which encouraged readers to write in. By the way, that doesn't mean I don't like or even love those photos (although not Titanic), which makes me wish the iceberg would strike a bit sooner). Here is a list of the Top 20 movies you should have included in my Top 100 list, as well as your reasons for... England star's message to Nike?Harvey Elliott hides 'rainbow coloured' St George's flag by turning up his collar while playing for U21s - as FA insists it WON'T recall controversial kit

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 22, 2024
Harvey Elliott of Liverpool scored twice in the young Three Lions' 5-1 victory over Azerbaijan in a Euro under-21 qualifier in Baku, but the banner on the £125 jersey was not visible for the entire game. Harvey hasn't commented on the decision, but Liverpool do not have a collar on their famous red shirts, although they did have his collar on loan for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, he didn't wear one. His decision to turn his collar up on the shirt's first outing for the national team came at a time when many people slashed the decision to make the red and white flags blue and purple. The FA has confirmed that it will not recall the shirt. MailOnline has confirmed that England's bungled football shirt was created 5,000 miles away by Nike executives in America. The pressure on the highly compensated executives who negotiated the 'abominable' updates to the St George's Cross is increasing. Critics have questioned whether a Oregon-based £122 billion company would have dared to change the colors of the Stars and Stripes on the US football jersey. "We're just a month from St George's Day, when we celebrate our Englishness in a new, encouraging way, just as Americans celebrate the 4th of July.' Mr Francois argued that Nike would not have dared do the same thing to the Stars and Stripes in the United States. 'In the words of John Wayne "Like hell they would! ".

Brian Peck, the ex Nickelodeon star, has said he had a self-portrait from Chicago serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who murdered 33 teenage boys and men and then moved to form pen-pal relations with the psycho

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 20, 2024
On Sunday, the first two episodes of the documentary series premiered on Sunday, and actor Kyle Sulivan, who appeared on Nickelodeon's 'All That', talked about what he found out when he went to Brian Peck's (pictured left) home. "I remember, and at the time, I believe it was about two-and-a-half years ago, everyone went to Brian's house for a barbecue," Sullivan said. 'And his house was a little off.' Peck's house was packed with vintage toys, comic books, and a 'Planet Of The Apes shrine,' according to the actor, who was 14 years old at the time. Peck was in his 40s, and he was in his 40s. As unusual as the house already was for Sullivan, it was what he noticed next that was truly haunting - a painting signed by serial killer John Wayne Gacy (inset)

JAN MOIR: Can the deliciously glitzy restaurant loved by Princess Diana reclaim its crown as the haunt that every A-lister MUST be seen in?90s icon Le Caprice reopens its doors

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 3, 2024
JAN MOIR (left): Jeremy King (left) is back where he belongs, sporting his latest restaurant (right), which also happens to be his old restaurant and, perhaps more importantly, was his first restaurant. From 1981 to 2000, the King of Arlington, Texas, operated it with his business partner Chris Corbin as Le Caprice. It was purchased by billionaire Richard Caring in 2005, who closed it three years ago due to the pandemic, but the name and plans to relaunch it in a London hotel were mischievous. However, it is no surprise that it was King Le Caprice's version that thrilled and delighted London. The opulent, the undeniably popular, and the indelibly royal became a favorite haunt in St James's under Corbin & King's direction.

Peeping Tom is the film that sparked controversy in 60s Britain and shattered its director's career, but it has since been praised as a masterpiece by a new generation of film-makers

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 15, 2024
If ever a film was ahead of its time, it was British director Michael Powell's Peeping Tom. It came out in 1960, a year in which cinema-goers were more accustomed to a diet of endless war films, romantic melodramas, and - from America - John Wayne westerns. And so a film based on a serial killer who filmed the terror of his victims in their last moments as he stabbed them repeatedly with a blade not revealed in his camera tripod was always going to be difficult to watch.

The Confessions review: How to turn an ordinary life into an extraordinary adventure (Make it all about your mum!)writes PATRICK MARMION

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 27, 2023
PATRICK MARMION: What a poignant and arresting new play they've brought into the National Theatre. The Confessions by London writer and director Alexander Zeldin is a fan of the common woman. It is based on his mother's account of her life, beginning in Australia and ending in London. Alice is portrayed here as an ordinary woman growing up in a post-war suburbia. In London, she flunks university, marries sweet but dull Graham, gets hurt by a professor who teaches art history, and ends up alone in London, where she encounters Jacob, a bashful Holocaust survivor. In certain respects, the everyday epic is a very traditional representation of the postwar period, charting sexual revolution and counter-revolution.

With an air traffic controller alerting the plane to return to land, a terrifying mid-air near miss saw an Alaska jet come within 250 feet of colliding with a Skywest plane above Portland Airport

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 22, 2023

Tactless Biden says 'Good Evening, Vietnam!' During another strange press conference in Hanoi, where he mistook Robin Williams' anti-war movie for a SONG, he rants about 'Indians' and John Wayne

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 10, 2023
After two days at the G20 summit in India, Joe Bide, 80, president, admitted that he was struggling to decide whether it was day or night. Biden began his strange press conference by mistakenly mistakening Robin Wiiliams' famous film (inset) for a song. 'One of my coworkers said, "Remember the famous song "Good Morning Vietnam"?" "Well, good evening, Vietnam," he said. In a ostensible display of his stamina, Biden is circumnavigating the globe in five days, he ended the 26-minute experience by saying, 'I'm going to go to bed.' He revived reporters with a tale that he claims is from a John Wayne film and includes the 'Indians' - not the ones he just saw - who don't buy it when a Union soldier says, 'everything will be fine' if they return to the reservation.

At a VERY bizarre press conference with whispers, walking around and joking about'softball' questions from a banned list of reporters, Biden calls climate deniers' 'lying dog faced pony soldiers.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 10, 2023
While answering questions from a long list of journalists in Hanoi, Vietnam, President Joe Biden whispered, he walked around the stage and used the now-famous term "lying dog faced pony soldier." Biden jetted to Vietnam on Sunday to strengthen the country's diplomatic relations and concluded the day with a press conference after two days in India for the G20 Leaders' Summit. The 80-year-old commander-in-chief joked about not knowing if it was morning or night, and ended the 26-minute session by saying, 'I'm going to bed.' He regaled journalists with a tale that he says comes from a John Wayne film and includes the 'Indians' - not the ones he met with - who wouldn't buy it when a Union soldier says, 'everything will be fine if they return to the reservation.' 'He looks at John Wayne and praises him for his service as well as the fact that he is a lying dog faced pony soldier,' the Indian says of him.' Well, there are a slew of lying dog faced pony soldiers out there on the internet, as well as global warming. But not anymore,' Biden said. 'All of the sudden, they're all realizing it's a disaster,' the president said, whispering into the microphone.'

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews last night's TV: Good old Canadian hospitality?Barbecued moose and beer

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 6, 2023
CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: The people of Canada, as Race Across The World (BBC), has a long tradition of giving generous to others. No kindness is too much for complete strangers. The locals have been obliging as five British couples trek the breadth of Canada, zigzagging up to the far north and down to the plains. Kevin and Claudia, the father and daughter of the frozen Yukon territory, didn't seem to be trapped until they met a French-speaking Catholic missionary. She gave them a lift for several hours and then let them pitch their tent in her back yard.
