SHEKHAR BHATIA IN PRAGUE: A West Ham fan who was the perpetrator of a brutal machete racist assault suffered three seizures during the night but later went out drinking with his mates today. In the assault by three Asian men who were detained at the Old Bailey for attempted murder, John Payne, 51, of Stepney, sustained brain injury. Since the attack, he has been hospitalized and has a significant scar on his skull from the assault.

Voters in Maryland and Missouri endorsed recreational marijuana for those aged 21 and over, while those in Arkansas and North and South Dakota voted against their ballot campaigns. Maryland and Missouri will join 19 states and territories that already allow recreational marijuana use, leaving nearly half of the population of the United States in places where the use of weed is strictly forbidden for adults.
