John Madejski Career

Life and business career

Madejski was born in Stoke-on-Trent on April 28, 1941, as a result of a wartime fling. He was first placed with a foster family. Hurst, a newborn, was taken back to his mother's hometown of Reading and placed in a children's home. Zygmunt Madejski, a Polish Second World War Airman, survived his mother's death before marrying Madejski's surname. Hurst's biological father had started a new family.

Madejski discovered a car sales magazine with pictures of the vehicles on sale in Florida in the mid-1970s. He immediately understood the potential of the idea and founded Thames Valley Trader in 1976 with the assistance of his business partners Paul Gibbons and Peter Taylor. Initially, the magazine featured everything from houses to cars, even aircraft, but it soon concentrated solely on vehicles, and Auto Trader was renamed. In 1982, Madejski formed the Guardian Media Group to give the name national recognition.

With a total circulation of more than 700,000. Hurst Publishing was sold for £174 million in 1998.

He owns a large number of luxurious cars, including two Rolls-Royces, two Bentleys, four Jaguars, an AC Cobra, and two Ferraris, as well as a red 328 that stands inside a glass case in his gym. Madejski has two children but has never married, but has never married. In October 2004, he made front-page headlines in UK tabloid newspapers due to his suspected romantic relationship with singer and television actress Cilla Black. Due to their common interest with the Conservative Party, the two became close friends. Madejski was on the BBC show Match of the Day seated between Black and Chris Tarrant watching the Reading F.C. on March 3, 2007. Arsenal F.C. takes the field in a game against Arsenal F.C. at the Emirates Stadium.

Madejski was appointed chairman of Reading F.C.'s Football League club. In 1990, he began to play for the club's Madejski Stadium, which was built in 1998 with a large amount of funds contributed by him. He saved Reading from receivership. "I told Robert Maxwell that I gave him five pounds a share." I called them for ten p.m. when they fell off his boat. "It's a funny old life, isn't it?" For the first time in the club's 135-year history, he led the team to the top tier of English football and suggested that the stadium be increased to 38,000 seats. Madejski declared that he was ready to sell up following Premier League promotion:

During the tax year 2007-2008, the club made £6.6 million in pre-tax income.

Madejski planned to relinquish ownership of the club by selling a 51% stake to Thames Sports Investments, a Russian consortium led by Anton Zingarevich, on January 21, 2012. Madejski declared that he would remain chairman for at least two years as part of the agreement, before becoming honorary life president. Madejski's tenure as the club's owner came to an end on May 29, 2012, when the takeover agreement was concluded.

Jilly Cooper discusses the shame she felt over her late husband's death with Parkinson's, admits she felt guilty at times.'Please God, take him'

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 6, 2023
Jilly Cooper, a biographer, told The Times from her home in Bisley, Gloucestershire, that her husband's fight with Parkinson's disease was a'shocker.' "You're getting to the point where you can't," she said. You must have felt so ashamed. It's not fair.' The pair were married for 53 years before Leo (pictured left with Jilly in 1990) - a military book publisher, died.

While men aren't allowed to be MACHO now, Jilly Cooper says we don't want stallions to become whimpering DRIPS as she announces her new bonkbuster

Jilly Cooper's habitual literary milieu is the upper crust world of the horsy set, but now, in her ninth decade, she has turned her gaze on a new world of WAGs for her latest novel, Tackle! It is amusing, racy, and backed by her moral conviction that bad conduct never triumphs in the end. She also delves into the emasculation of males, which is one of her favorite topics. Iron Man is one of her footballers, not for his physical appearance, but because he irons his domineering wife's dresses.
