Investigation exposes Stanford hounding undergrads to suicide - who'd be a student today?

BLOCK: A Stanford committee said the university's disciplinary process is overly punitive and 'not educational,' in a April 2021 study.' Katie Meyer (above, left) was dead less than a year ago. Meyer had been a campus legend. She was the goalie of Stanford's women's soccer team and aided the team in winning their first NCAA championship victory in 2019 that came down to the final penalties. Stanford professor Paulmeier (above, right) and several others told me that they aren't trying to force Stanford to make it easier for students to cheat or, in the worst case, cause injury to others. Students need to make mistakes and learn from them, and they should, of course, encourage them to let loose a little bit of them. 'I mean, it's college, for God's sake,' Paulmeier said. Paulmeier said he came to Stanford because he wanted to make the world a better place, could make my neighborhood more safe, and to help kids who were like me.' But now, as he walks across the campus's more than 8,000 acres of manicured lawns and Romanesque sandstone buildings, he wonders if Stanford truly represents what he always believed to be the American dream. It's unethical to base your child's life on getting into places like this because, at the end of the day, they don't really care about your kid.' They never did.'
