The Gentlemen outfits on Netflix tell a tale that has turned into rack and ruin as a second son inherits a family estate that, as he discovers, has devolved into rack and ruin. Needless to say, it's also a tale of Barbour jackets, wellies, and Prince of Wales checks. Susie Glass (HoKaya Scodelario)'s subtuitive style echoes the Princess of Wales' beautifully curated wardrobe, while Eddie Horniman (Theo James ) mimics a dressed down Prince William. The Gentlemen's wardrobe, created by costume designer Lou Lou Bontemps, gives endless fashion inspiration, beautifully encapsulating each character in classic-with-a-twist country wear outfits as well as luxurious fashion prints, as well as a strong similarity to our own royal family.

Emma Corrin swaps shy Di for a more raunchy Lady: BRIAN VINER reviews Lady Chatterley's Lover

www.dailymail.co.uk, December 2, 2022
D.H. Lawrence's steamy tale of sex, class, and betrayal, Lady Chatterley's Lover, gets another reworking, this time with Jack O'Connell as low-born Mellors and Emma Corrin as Connie, the titled young woman on the other side of their startling, mutual attraction. It's at least the fourth screen version since 1993, when Sean Bean and Joely Richardson were lustful against a tree for four episodes on BBC1. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but the scene, which is unintentionally ostensible in honor of the mighty English oak, is all I recall. Oddly, the author of this frightfully English story, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, is a French woman, who has politely referred to as Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre. But then there was Eva Husson, a French female director who made last year's unforgettable Mothering Sunday, who spoke about lust across England's chasm of class. There's a slew of furtive affairs in their own language (Madame Bovary, Therese Raquin, etc.), so I don't know why they feel the need to address ours, but on the whole, I'm glad they did.
