According to the National Crime Prevention Council, Snapchat, which is most popular among 15-25 year olds, uses encrypted technology and its trademark disappearing messages, which both help drug dealers prevent arrest and prosecution. In the meantime, the Drug Enforcement Administration says it is looking at fentanyl messages on social media sites and warns that emoji code words are used for young buyers to discourage suspicion from their parents. Overdose deaths reached a high last year, with an average of one death every five minutes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the deaths of teenagers aged 10 to 19 increased by 109 percent between 2019 and 2021. A whopping 84 percent of them were concerned with fentanyl.
