Following an inquiry into the awarding of the job in the run-up to the 2018 Victorian state election, the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission published its Operation Daintree report on Wednesday. The probe found that a ministerial advisor in Jill Hennessy's office put pressure on Department of Health and Human Services workers to give the job to a Health Workers Union agency. It also discovered that an advisor in the office of a new health minister Jenny Mikakos (right) and an advisor in the office of Premier Daniel Andrews (left) interfered with the department's administration of the public interest.

Following a study by a Melbourne newspaper involving him Victorian Premier Dan Andrews, he said he'd be subjected to legislation punishing journalists for reporting misconduct under private review by the state's anti-corruption watchdog IBAC. Mr Andrews and former health minister Jill Hennessy were secretly interrogated about a $3.4 million grant given to a health services union in the run-up to the last state election, according to The Age. Mr Andrews accused people of peddling smear and innuendo against him, though denying any wrongdoing.
