Jerry Rivera Life

Jerry Rivera (born July 31, 1973) is a Puerto Rican salsa singer and songwriter.

Early years

Rivera was born in Humacao, a town on Puerto Rico's eastern coast. He and his family immigrated to Levittown, Toa Baja, where he received his primary and secondary education. Edwin Rivera and his younger sister Saned are among his family's members. Ito and Jose, two other brothers, are professional instrumental players. His parents, as well as musicians, encouraged him to become a guitarist, and father Edwin, a guitarist and producer of Los Barones Trio, would often accompany his mother Dominga, a singer, and father Edwin, a guitarist and producer of Los Barones Trio.

In 1986, when he was 13 years old, he accompanied his father, who was performing at a hotel in Isla Verde, San Juan. Frankie Ruiz, a hotel guest, appeared and performed a few songs with them and had their portrait taken alongside Rivera. This photo was used by Rivera in 2003 to print the album cover for his Canto a Mi Idolo... Frankie Ruiz' ('I sing to my Idol... Frankie Ruiz) who had died in 1998.

It was the longest-sold salsa album in history, a record set by Willie Colón and a time when it was number one in the Latin American Billboards for three months in a row. The Cuenta Conmigo, Me Estoy Enamorando ('I'm Falling in Love), and Casi Un Hechizo (Nearly A Charm) were among the hit songs on the show. Amores Como El Nuestro (written by Panamanian songwriter Omar Alfanno) (Love Like Ours) was the top hit on the album, according to some, which is considered by some to be the best song by Rivera. Rivera was given two Premio Lo Nuestro Awards for "Singer of the Year" and "Album of the Year," as well as three Crystal Awards from Sony Records.

Amores Como El Nuestro has been sampled twice in hip hop, first by American East Coast hip hop duo, and later by Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean in their 2004 album "Doing This" by Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, which will later become the worldwide number one 2006 hit "Hips Don't Lie" by Wyclef and Colombian-singer Shakira.
