Kyle Lowry, the new Philadelphia 76ers' rookie, was more painful than the veteran's reencounter to his hometown team. Not only did the 76ers suffer a 110-96 loss to the New York Knicks as both teams returned to action for the first time since the All-Star break, but Lowry suffered a devastating blow to the head. When trying to regain control of New York's big guy for a rebound, Lowry took an elbow to the forehead from Knicks center Jericho Sims.

Mac McClung, a G League player, may have single-handedly restored the shine on a dunk contest that has been largely banned in recent years. McClung is a 6-foot-2 guard on a two-way agreement with the Philadelphia Phillies, and he has spent the majority of the season with the Delaware Blue Coats, the Philadelphia 76ers G league affiliate. In the finals of the dunk tournament, he defeated Trey Murphy III of New Orleans, bringing an NBA All-Star Saturday that may have answered the mystery as to whether what used to be the league's signature event can be glitzy once more.
