Laurent de Brunhoff dead at 98: Babar author and heir who helped create global empire form the children's books dies at his Florida home after two weeks' hospice care his widow reveals

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 25, 2024
Laurent de Brunhoff, a Babar author who revived his father's famous picture book series about an elephant and presided over its ascension to a multinational, multimedia company, has died. He was 98. According to De Brunhoff's widow, Phyllis Rose, a Paris native who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s, died on Friday at his Key West, Florida home, after being in hospice care for two weeks following a stroke. Jean de Brunhoff, his father, had drawn the first illustrations of Babar, which had started as a bedtime tale told their children.
