Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left Sunday's 40-7 win over the Carolina Panthers with an apparent rib injury.

Washington Commanders star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels exited his team's game after their first drive with a rib injury, going to the locker room for an X-ray during the first quarter. Daniels' first play from scrimmage against the Carolina Panthers was a 46-yard scamper where he was violently tackled and flipped before coming to a stop. Daniels was seen in discomfort for several minutes and has not returned to the game, being marked as questionable for the rest of the contest.

The Washington Commanders have signed 'male model' quarterback Sam Hartman as an undrafted free agent, according to multiple reports. Hartman, who finished his college career at Notre Dame, will receive a $20,000 signing bonus and a $225,000 base salary guarantee, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. USC quarterback Caleb Williams had long been considered a lock to the Chicago Bears with the first-overall pick. It was the second pick, where Washington was looking to replace failed starter Sam Howell after a 4-13 season, that had the experts split. Commanders general manager Adam Peters ultimately picked Williams over North Carolina's Drake Maye and Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, both of whom were invited on a recent TopGolf outing with Daniels by team personnel.

The New England Patriots took another stab at replacing Tom Brady at Thursday's NFL Draft, this time, by drafting North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the third pick. Maye followed two other quarterbacks off the board in LSU's Jayden Daniels, who went second to Washington, and future Chicago bears signal caller Caleb Williams, who went first overall out of USC. The pick comes three years after the Patriots' first failed attempt to replace Brady with Mac Jones, who was drafted 15th overall but is now off to Jacksonville to serve as Trevor Lawrence's backup.

Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and other members of the 2024 NFL Draft class have begun arriving to the Fox Theatre in Detroit ahead of their big nights. Williams, the presumptive No. 1 overall pick to the Chicago Bears, wore a navy blue suit with a side zipper as he flashed a smile on the red carpet.  In another picture, he posed with his girlfriend and his mother.

The 2024 NFL Draft starts Thursday night with the first 32 selections, will continue Friday night with rounds 2 and 3, and the rest of the picks coming in Saturday. Round 1 begins at 8 p.m. Eastern, with the Chicago Bears likely selecting former USC quarterback Caleb Williams No 1 overall. Washington holds the second overall selection and will likely choose between LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye. After the first 32 selections are done, the drafting continues Friday night at 7 p.m. Eastern with the next two rounds.
