After a lengthy delay at the start of the game on Saturday night due to tornado warnings, Jared Stroud scored three minutes into the match and St. Louis City never gave up in a 5-1 win over FC Cincinnati. Stroud led St. Louis City (6-2-0) to snap a two-match losing streak in its first season of play after using assists from Joo Klauss and Eduard Löwen. Since beating the Sounders 4-1, St. Louis City has regained control of Seattle atop the Western Conference. Löwen made it 2-0 after scoring unassisted in the 39th minute. In the second minute of stoppage time for a 3-0 halftime lead, Kyle HIebert found the net with assistance from Stroud and Klauss.

Kyle Hiebert scored the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute and St. Louis City won it's third straight match against the Portland Timbers on Saturday night, tying the league record for victories by an expansion team. Jared Stroud had two goals for St. Louis, one of only four teams in MLS with two wins to start the season. In the third minute, the Timbers took the lead on Zac McGraw's header off a corner from Eryk Williamson.
