He wasn't shy to bite back, reminding Liverpool supporters in attendance that they had lost to rivals Everton on Wednesday night. The REAL Evangelos Marinakis: The explosive hire-and-fire merchant behind Forest's outrageous ref rant has another side - yachts, pop songs, big money... and even bigger tantrums

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 26, 2024
TOM COLLOMOSSE: The image is one of the most arresting of the season. The date is March 2 and Darwin Nunez has just scored for Liverpool in the ninth minute of stoppage time, to secure a controversial 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. Yet again, Forest feel wronged by a crucial refereeing decision moments earlier and not long after the final whistle sounds, players and staff march towards the officials, boiling with rage. Forest coach Steven Reid turns the air blue and is subsequently banned from the touchline for his tirade at referee Paul Tierney. There are boos and catcalls. Amid it all, owner Evangelos Marinakis stands alone on the touchline, a study in brooding anger.

THREE Liverpool stars are named among the Premier League's most wasteful finishers this season - but who else has lacked killer instinct?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 26, 2024

The Reds have notably struggled to find the back of the net of late - and their scoring woes has been costly, so much so that Liverpool have seemingly dropped out of the title race following their 2-0 defeat by Everton on Wednesday night.  'I don't know [if we're still in the race],' Klopp admitted after the Merseyside derby. 'I can only apologise to the people. Everybody who is with us knows how hard this is for us as well, but I know for other people it's especially hard. So we should have done better but we didn't and that's why we lost.'

Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that.' Club owners FSG asked Edwards back to help head up a restructure following in the wake of Klopp's announcement in January that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Why Neville is WRONG about Mark Clattenburg and who ARE the columnists who end up getting the bullet for being bland?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 24, 2024
CRAIG HOPE: The journey that brought Mark Clattenburg on board with the Daily Mail began in the foyer of a social club in Seaham in 2017. He was - not for the first time and, as this week shows, not for the last - at the centre of a media storm. The best referee in the world, he was quitting the Premier League for Saudi Arabia halfway through the season. It was back-page news. Clattenburg, however, had a commitment to give a talk to raise money for a junior football club close to his County Durham home. I bought a ticket and sat at the back of the room. Moments before the scheduled start, he was made aware of my presence and left the stage. He wanted a chat in the foyer. Was I about to get a red card?

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 22, 2024
With Jurgen Klopp to step down at the end of the season and end his trophy-laden nine-year spell, the Reds are continuing their search for his successor. The process is being spearheaded by incoming sporting director Richard Hughes, who will officially take up his position working under Michael Edwards this summer after being headhunted by FSG's CEO of Football and lured from Bournemouth. Sporting Lisbon's Amorim was widely believed to be the red-hot favourite to succeed Klopp but The Athletic have now poured cold water on the speculation, with a new report instead linking the highly-rated 39-year-old with West Ham. That has sparked fresh talk after the apparent hammer blow for Anfield figures and the likes of De Zerbi, Arne Slot and Gary O'Neil - a close associate of both Hughes and Edwards - have recently been name-dropped on social media.
