He wasn't shy to bite back, reminding Liverpool supporters in attendance that they had lost to rivals Everton on Wednesday night. He has made no secret of his love for United, regularly mentioning his team in interviews, receiving invites to visit the club and even throwing a few arrows against some of his Red Devils heroes.

The Premier League's most wasteful players this season have been revealed, with three Liverpool stars ranking inside the top-ten footballers to have missed the most big chances during the 2023-24 campaign. The Reds have notably struggled to find the back of the net of late - and their scoring woes has been costly, so much so that Liverpool have seemingly dropped out of the title race following their 2-0 defeat by Everton on Wednesday night.  'I don't know [if we're still in the race],' Klopp admitted after the Merseyside derby. 'I can only apologise to the people. Everybody who is with us knows how hard this is for us as well, but I know for other people it's especially hard. So we should have done better but we didn't and that's why we lost.' 

Chris Wood (left) has broken his silence following Nottingham Forest's remarkable social media statement last Sunday, claiming that he can 'understand' the club's VAR fury.  Nottingham Forest released a statement at the end of their 2-0 defeat to Everton (bottom right) that has caused huge uproar across the game, insisting that they should have been awarded three penalties in the game.  However, they went further by writing they 'simply cannot accept' the decisions and will 'consider their options' as well as insinuating the VAR Stuart Attwell was a Luton Town supporter, the Hatters also in the battle against relegation. 

Slot (left) himself seemed to put the wheels further in motion when he revealed on Thursday that he would like to take the job, saying: 'It is no secret that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that.' It's now down to the two clubs to do just that, with it looking more likely by the day that the 45-year-old will be the Reds' next manager and a deal could be done by the weekend.

Last month, it was announced that Edwards was back at the club after leaving the Merseyside outfit two years ago. Sporting Lisbon's Amorim was widely believed to be the red-hot favourite to succeed Klopp but The Athletic have now poured cold water on the speculation, with a new report instead linking the highly-rated 39-year-old with West Ham. That has sparked fresh talk after the apparent hammer blow for Anfield figures and the likes of De Zerbi, Arne Slot and Gary O'Neil - a close associate of both Hughes and Edwards - have recently been name-dropped on social media.

Nottingham Forest are set to demand an audio transcript of VAR decisions from the PGMOL after the club stated that it would 'consider its options' regarding penalties that were not given in their favour in their 2-0 loss to Everton. The Midlands club released an incendiary statement on social media in the wake of Sunday's defeat which claimed that VAR official Stuart Attwell could be subject to bias as a 'Luton fan'. 'Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept,' the club's post on X (formerly Twitter) read. 

Gary Neville has claimed it would be 'extreme' if Manchester United sacked Erik ten Hag with a FA Cup triumph. United prevailed on penalties to reach the final following a remarkable tie against Championship side Coventry at Wembley. Despite United establishing a three-goal lead, Coventry managed to pull level at 3-3 to send the game to extra-time, with penalties eventually following.

Crystal Palace have poked fun at Nottingham Forest's statement following their win over West Ham. Palace won 5-2 at home to Palace having established a four-goal lead by the 20th minute. After the game Palace couldn't resist poking fun at Forest, who had earlier issued a statement slamming 'poor decisions' in their 2-0 loss to Everton.

Kate Abdo's boyfriend, Malik Scott, was seen attending a pre-match meal with the rest of the CBS Sports pundits ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals. Abdo has been enjoying a season of broadcasting success, covering Europe's top competition alongside Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry and Micah Richards for overseas audiences. After going public with her relationship with the boxing trainer, former Liverpool defender Carragher, last month, joked live on air that Abdo hadn't been loyal to her other half.

However, after he drew a blank in last month's goalless draw with Arsenal , Roy Keane sensationally labelled the Norwegian's all round play, the standard of a 'League Two player.' Jamie Carragher then hit out at Haaland after Manchester City's 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in midweek, by suggesting the striker is one of the world's great goal-scorers but is not 'world-class.' Now, Haaland's father, the former City and Nottingham Forest midfielder has backed the forward by defending his record at the club.

Pep Guardiola has come to the defence of Erling Haaland after Jamie Carragher claimed the Manchester City forward needs to change if he wants to win the Ballon d'Or. Haaland boasts a superb return of 82 goals in 90 appearances for City since the start of last season. The Norwegian's all-around game has faced criticism in recent weeks, notably after the Premier League top scorer struggled to make an impact in their goalless draw with Arsenal last month.
