Billy Harris of "real Lasso" wishes Colin's Plot makes life easier for real people. Athletes are among the LGBT group

www.popsugar.co.uk, May 4, 2023
Billy Harris of "Ted Lasso" knows that some followers have been waiting for this long time. For the show's fictive AFC Richmond, Harris plays Colin Hughes, a Welsh left winger. Colin makes a passing mention of Grindr in the third episode of season two, which goes unnoticed by the majority of the team. However, some followers, especially LGBTQ+ ones, believed the show was seeding before finally revealing Colin is queer (and closed), a too common occurrence in men's sports. Colin is gay in season three, although he is still worried about speaking out about it openly. Harris tells POPSUGAR that he had "too many conversations" with followers about Colin's Grindr line, and he was glad that the show supported their theories this season. Colin has a heart-to-heart with Trent Crimm (James Lance), who is also queer, on this season's sixth episode. Colin is sick of living two lives, and he's excited for the two halves of him — footballer and gay — to unite together. "The way it was handled was one of my favorites," he says. "It wasn't scandalous, it wasn't seen as a negative."

On the popular Apple TV show 'Trent Crimm of The Independent,' Ted Lasso actor James Lance attended the briefing in character as Crimm, who is known for always introducing himself as 'Trent Crimm of The Independent.'
