The King and his family were on La Pared Beach, Luquillo, for a surf lesson with a pro. After the lessons ended, the king was wading in chest-deep water and starting to fail as the riptide became stronger. He could not be revived.

However, concerns that ongoing contracts could force Sun to maintain an interest in his businesses have remained.
