Jacob Shawn Marisnick (born March 30, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB).
The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Marisnick in the third round of the 2009 MLB Draft.
He debuted in the major leagues with the Miami Marlins in 2013, and has also played in MLB for the Houston Astros.
Early career
Marisnick attended Riverside Polytechnic High School in Riverside, California. He excelled for the school's baseball team, and was initially intended to be a first-round pick in the forthcoming Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. However, he struggled during showcase performances and his batting average as a senior was.406 batting average, lower than his batting average in his sophomore and junior years. He pledged to attend the University of Oregon on a college baseball scholarship.
In the third round of the 2009 MLB draft, the Toronto Blue Jays drafted Marisnick. Marisnick signed with the Blue Jays rather than attending Oregon, earning a $1 million signing bonus, more than double the expected compensation for a player drafted at that position.
Marisnick was ranked as the 58th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com before the 2012 season. Major league career
The Marlins promoted Marisnick and Christian Yelich to the big leagues from the Double-Atlantic Suns on July 23, 2013. On July 26, 2013, Marisnick hit Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jeff Locke for his first major league hit. In a game against the New York Mets' Jenrry Mejia, Marisnick scored his first home run in his career.
On March 27, 2014, the Marlins optioned Marisnick to the New Orleans Zephyrs of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. Christian Yelich was recalled on June 16 after being added to the disabled list.
The Marlins traded Marisnick, Colin Moran, Francis Martes, and a compensatory draft pick to the Houston Astros for Jarred Cosart, Enrique Hernández, and Austin Wates on July 31, 2014. Marisnick did not participate in any post-season action due to injury, but he was still on the 40-man roster at the time and captured his first championship title.

Marisnick collided with catcher Jonathan Lucroy of the Los Angeles Angels at home plate on July 7, 2019 as trying to score on a fly out. He was suspended for violating Official Baseball Rule 6.01(i). Lucroy suffered from a concussion and a fractured nose as a result of the accident, and Marisnick was banned for two games for two games for the violation (pending appeal), but the cause was unintentional. Marisnick was struck by a pitch by Angels reliever Noé Ramirez in the high back on July 18, 2019, when the pitch was going for his head. Marisnick did not charge the mound or retaliate, but instead went to 1st base. Albert Pujols, the first baseman of the Astros, had an altercation with the enraged Astros dugout. Ramirez and Angels boss Brad Ausmus were suspended, Ramirez for three games and Ausmus for one. Marisnick had appealed for his two-game suspension, according to the newspaper on July 29.
